Guild Ranks

Hierarchy at Seelund Trading Co. is very flat. Most of the positions within the Company can be considered of equal rank, with different responsibilities.

Apprentices
(rank 9)

Apprentices are new members who are still being introduced to the guild. They represent the errand runners and assistant clerks of the Company. All apprentices must have a Master or greater mentoring them.

* Responsibilities:
* Run errands for guild members
* Get to know the rest of the guild
* Give us a chance to get to know you

Apprentices have no direct access to guild money or items, though you may request items or money from your mentor, and anything they grant you will come out of their daily access. Apprentices cannot sponsor anyone into the guild except their own direct out-of-game family. Apprentices may not generally bring in alts, though exceptions will be made in certain circumstance.

To become a full member of the guild, Apprentices will need to:

* Complete five tasks (which can be given by any member of Journeyman rank or above), which will be kept track of by their mentor
* Organize at least one event for the guild, or an open event for the server community (this can be as small as a battleground night or as large as a cross-faction server event)
* Be an apprentice for at least a month
* Mentor must agree that the apprentice is ready to move on and is a good fit for, and addition to, the Company.

When all of these conditions are met, the apprentice may request an Apprentice Quest from the Captains and Guilder. Upon the successful completion of the quest, the apprentice will be welcomed into the ranks of the Journeymen, and considered a full member of the guild, at the next monthly meeting. Note that you can stay an apprentice forever if you're not interested in becoming a full member.

Journeyman
(Rank 8)

Journeyman is the basic "member" rank. Journeymen have limited access to guild resources compared to the other member ranks but also have no particular responsibilities beyond adhering to our Code of Conduct.

Journeymen get up to 15g/day for repairs and 2 withdrawals/day from the Buy/Sell tab of the guild bank.

Master Ranks

Masters have more access to guild resources, but along with that, they have a responsibility to help keep the Company profitable and running. They are also responsible for mentoring apprentices. You may move between the Master ranks and Journeyman rank whenever you like, and if you know you're going to be gone for a long time, or that you will be unable to fulfill your responsibilities as a Master due to real life, we encourage you to switch to Journeyman. No one is required to move into a Master rank, but there are definitely rewards for those who are interested in taking on a little bit of the work that keeps the guild moving.

Note that this is per character. If you make two of your characters Masters, we DO expect you to contribute twice as much because you are receiving twice the reward.

Merchant (Rank 7)

Merchants make money for the company and foster relations with other guilds and potential customers. Here are a few ideas for responsibilities you may want to take up:

* Contribute 100g/week to the gbank
* Broker deals between our crafters and people looking to have an item crafted
* Help keep the gbank cleaned up by selling unused items
* Broker deals for Explorers who will find items or materials that a customer is looking for
* Broker deals for Guards or other members to act as mercenaries

In return, Merchants have access to:
* 30g/day in cash from the gbank (more w/approval from a Captain for inventory and restocking)
* 10 withdrawals per day from the Buy/Sell tab
* 3 withdrawals per day from the Raw Materials tab
* 4 withdrawals per day from the Finished Goods Tab

Explorer (Rank 6)

Explorers look for new markets, and "creatively aquire" goods and recipes for sale or service. That can mean anything from hitting every player-run tavern on the server trying to sell them on using us to supply their booze to running all over Azeroth and Outland gathering materials, to spending all your time in instances looking for high level recipes.

Here are ideas for responsibilities an Explorer might assume:

* Donate several stacks of raw materials to the gbank every week for Crafters or for sale
* Help new 80s and/or lower level characters than yours get better geared
* organize a pve event of some kind at least once a month
* Lead groups on an "adventure": an event with an objective (such as everyone in the group getting a particular achievement)

In return, Explorers have access to:
* 50g/day for repair or as cash
* 4 withdrawals from the Buy/Sell tab
* 5 withdrawals from the Raid tab
* 2 withdrawals from the Finish Goods tab
* 1 withdrawal from the Events tab

Crafter (Rank 5)

Crafters are characters who have chosen to focus on their professions. They make the things that the Merchants sell, the gear and potions and gems that the rest of the company uses, the food that we serve at the Tavern.

A few ways Crafters can contribute:
* Keep the other members geared and weaponed with the best-in-slot for their level
* Keep people stocked with potions and enchants appropriate to their level
* Contribute several items a week for sale (confer with the merchants as to what will sell best)
* Work with merchants who broker deals between you and people outside the guild looking for your goods and services
* Keep a tab stocked (make sure there are always several stack of healing and mana potions in the raid tab, or make sure there are always epic gems available for gearing, etc, as appropriate to your profession)

Crafters get:
* 20g cash/day
* 4 withdrawals from the Buy/Sell tab
* 10 withdrawals from the Raw Materials tab
* 4 withdrawals from the Finished Goods tab

Sailor (Rank 4)

Seelund Trading Co. employs sailors for trade ships as well as contracting with the captains of ships that are short handed to help fill out their crew. Most player characters will either be contracted to work on the Wave Runner under the ship's owner, Captain Ferien Hugo, or on Aydrien's new ship, the Merry Elwynn, though the Company does take smaller commissions on other private ships, of various sorts.

And remember, when they're on your side, they're not called pirates. They're called privateers.

Possible responsibilities of a Sailor:
* Make a splash for Seelund by frequently going to other guild's RP events and making a name for us
* Run at least one open RP event a month
* Be a mercenary! Participate in world pvp and other organized PVP events and make a name for Seelund while you're at it.
* Always respond to World Defense in port cities to defend our ships (Stormwind Harbor, Menethil, Theramore, Valgarde, Valiance Keep)

Sailors' reward:
* 30g/day in either repair or cash
* 3 withdrawals from the Buy/Sell tab
* 2 withdrawals from the Raid tab
* 2 withdrawals from the Raw Materials tab
* 1 withdrawal from the Finished Goods tab
* 6 withdrawals from the Events tab

Guard (Rank 3)

Guards are assigned both to protect caravans and to protect the guild hall and the neighborhood around it. In Stormwind they're also expected to act as security for members of the Company, including Guilder Aydrien, who has had several attempts on her life over the last few years. Guards are also hired out as mercenaries.

Suggests for Guard contributions:
* First on the defense when a member of Seelund is in trouble or if someone requests aid
* Run at least one pvp event a month
* Be a mercenary! Participate in world pvp, answer world defense, and other organized PVP events, and make a name for Seelund while you're at it.
* Escort lowbies (in guild or out) and protect them while they are questing.
* Lead raids, either pvp or instance raids

In exchange, Guards receive:
* 75g/day in repairs
* 2 withrdawals from the Buy/Sell tab
* 8 withdrawals from the Raid tab
* 1 withdrawal from the Finished Goods tab

All Master Ranks

NOTE: The responsibilities for each Master rank are suggestions for ways to contribute. We wanted to make sure that there was a role that catered to every aspect of the game, to make it easier and more fun for people to do what they'll enjoy. No one should take this to mean that a Merchant can't run a pvp event or that a Guard can't choose to contribute money to the gbank instead of running events! If you have a way you'd like to contribute that's not listed here, talk to a Captain or the Guilder.

When you do whatever you're doing to contribute each month, drop me (Guilder Aydrien) a note to that effect. I won't be keeping track of who's doing what particularly (unless it becomes obvious that you're continuously not holding up your end of the rank), but I WILL use that information to make sure that we're offering events of every type. If all the Masters run pvp events one month, I want to make sure someone is also running a 10 man pve raid and someone else is helping to replenish the gold in the guild bank, for instance.

Sponsoring an Apprentice

All Apprentices must be mentored by a Journeyman or Master (or if none are available, a Herald, Captain or the Guilder). That means you are the person responsible for keeping track of an apprentice's tasks, as well as teaching them about the guild and helping them get to know everyone and become part of the larger group. You are their teacher and their contact person if they have questions. You are responsible for helping integrate them into the guild and for their actions (so choose wisely when you offer to sponsor someone into the guild).

You can mentor multiple Apprentices. If you are going to be gone for awhile or otherwise unable to fulfill your duties to your Apprentice, it's your responsibility to find someone to mentor any Apprentices that are currently assigned to you.

Herald
(Rank 2)

Heralds are the prime means of communication within the guild and with other guilds and the server at large.

Heralds are responsible for:
* Making sure that other guild's events get on our calendar if we're invited to them (this includes "open" events posted in the realm forums)
* Maintaining good contacts with other guilds, both Alliance and Horde
* Helping advertise events, through spreading the word to other guilds and where appropriate, posting on the realm forums or to the Stormwind Press
* Help organize events where necessary
* Advertising for Seelund Trading Co where appropriate, including writing stories to submit to the Stormwind Press about guild activities
* May be called on to mentor an Apprentice if no Masters are available.
* Will be able to help write quests and other guild related stories

Because Heralds are taking on such a large plate of work, they should be considered Junior Officers. They also get:
* 300g/day of either repair or cash
* 20 withdrawals/day for each of the first four tabs, and 100 withdrawals/day for the events tab
* The ability to invite, promote or demote a member, see and change officer messages and the message of the day, and participate in the officer channel.

Captain
(Rank 1)

Captains are the Officers of the Guild. They have full access to everything that Blizz would let me give them full access to. Captains are responsible for keeping things running smoothly and handling disputes between players or other situations that require a decision about Guild Policy. Some of them may also take up one of the Master types (ie. Captain of the Guard). In the absence of the Guilder, Captains should be considered the final word on a subject.

Current Captains: Kurgook, Hrolfrson, Dolian, Aeldon, Jellis, Stonemug, Randulfr, Aurhia, Mahri

Guilder
(Guild Leader)

That's me, Aydrien. My responsibility and the Captains' responsibilities are mostly the same. We keep things moving, help where we're needed, maintain a friendly environment in the guild and handle situations that require decisions about Guild Policy. We will be creating events and directing the guild storyline as well as helping keep up good relations with the rest of the server. The Guilder also handles those guild administrative duties that Blizz has decided can only rest with the Guild Leader. We're here to have fun, and we're here to help you have fun.
